In this kit, you'll find a carp tail anode as well as motor and base anodes. You'll find these anodes in Yanmar 40/50 HP and Yanmar 75/225 HP versions in the following materials:

• Zinc = saltwater use
• Magnesium = freshwater use only
• Aluminum = for use in salt and brackish water (a mixture of fresh and salt water, as in an estuary).

MOTOR ANODES

An anode protects all the submerged metal parts that make up a boat's hull and motor (propeller, through-hull, motor base, etc.) from corrosion. The anode is referred to as a "sacrificial" anode, because it is this part that will corrode the fastest, thus protecting the other metal parts from wear and tear.
