→ How to dress for paddleboarding?
How to choose your stand up paddle clothing? Stand-up paddling (from the acronym SUP) is accessible to everyone, men, women and even children. But how do you equip yourself for safe paddling?
What should you wear when paddling for the day? In addition to the need for a paddle and a paddle, this guide looks at the stand-up paddle equipment you should choose, and the conditions under which it's better to wear certain items of clothing than others. Find all our paddle clothing , paddle accessories and paddle gear in our category dedicated to stand up paddle.

→ Paddle equipment: is a lifejacket compulsory?
Wearing a paddle lifejacket is not compulsory when sailing within 300 m of the coast, but is strongly recommended. Beyond that point, as with kayaking, a lifejacket with a buoyancy rating of 50N must be worn. The leash paddle is compulsory, no matter how far away you are. Don't forget it!
We recommend using a paddle lifejacket for your safety. You'll need to choose a lightweight vest with a 50N buoyancy rating that doesn't restrict your freedom of movement. You can also opt for a paddle lifesaving belt, which is less restrictive and just as effective. The Alto Spinlock belt is a manually-operated inflatable rescue belt for SUP. It offers 75N of buoyancy while being very light and compact.

Paddle clothing: really useful?
The ease of access to stand-up paddling shouldn't make it a practice for which you neglect the equipment and clothing you wear. SUP is a sport in which you're exposed to the elements, particularly the sun's UV rays and the water.
You need to know how to protect yourself from these elements, and equip yourself accordingly with suitable paddle clothing, including UV protection, or paddle clothing that protects you from the water and the cold. We don't recommend setting off with just a cotton T-shirt and sunscreen.
→ The paddle tee shirt, the ideal solution for hot weather
When you SUP in summer, the sun can be very harmful to your skin if you don't protect it. It's not advisable to go bare-chested or in a bathing suit.
In our category paddle tee shirt , you'll find everything you need in men's paddle clothing and women's paddle clothing.
At mid-season, the weather and the water lose a few degrees. To accompany your paddle shirt without restricting your movements or keeping you too hot during the effort, there's nothing like opting for a paddle shorty to cover your lower body.
And for those of you who want to show your love of stand-up paddling with a sense of humor and display your love of stand-up paddling in front of your friends and family with a funny shirt !

→ The paddle suit to combat the cold
The arrival of winter doesn't have to be synonymous with a paddle board that's tucked away at the back of the garage until the warmer weather arrives.
You'll need to equip yourself accordingly, however, and adapt your paddle suit for cold-weather practice. There's nothing like a paddle suit to keep you warm on your board.
As with all the paddle equipment discussed above, the idea is to protect you without restricting your movements, not forgetting that stand-up paddling is a physical activity that will quickly make you hot when you exert yourself. It's the water temperature that will determine the thickness you need.
Between 12°C and 20°C, a 4/3mm or 3/2mm paddle suit will do the trick. Below 12°C, the risk of hypothermia increases, so you'll need to choose a thicker wetsuit.
